PoloMarconi at the Italy–USA Friendship Festival: Guglielmo Marconi’s antenna at the Basilica Palladiana

Andrea Palladio was named by the United States Congress the “father of American architecture,” for the influence his classical language exerted on Washington’s institutional landmarks, from the White House to the Capitol. In the heart of Vicenza, the Basilica Palladiana, a UNESCO World Heritage site, now becomes the stage for a symbolic dialogue between history and innovation.

On 12 September 2025, as part of the Italy–USA Friendship Festival, the Basilica hosts the exhibition of the Type 2469 antenna, built in 1931 and used by Guglielmo Marconi aboard the yacht Elettra. A unique artefact, presented in Italy for the first time within such an emblematic architectural landmark.

For PoloMarconi a company that brings in its very name the legacy of the founder of modern telecommunications, this presence represents more than a historical remembrance. It demonstrates that Marconi’s engineering method, reading the signal to create orientation in uncertain conditions, continues to inspire the development of today’s technologies. From RF solutions to advanced filtering systems, up to the latest embedded AI projects, every innovation of the company is rooted in that rigorous scientific approach.

Within the Basilica, the antenna becomes a bridge between past and future: a testimony to Italy’s ability to create cultural and technological infrastructures with the power to shape entire systems. PoloMarconi’s decision to support this exhibition underlines its role not only as an industrial actor, but also as an institutional and cultural partner, contributing to the enhancement of a heritage that belongs both to Italy and to the international community.

Through this participation, PoloMarconi reaffirms its mission: to safeguard a scientific inheritance and translate it into tangible solutions for global markets, with the same responsibility and vision that guided Guglielmo Marconi’s path.

Festival visitors are invited to explore the connection between history and innovation through the exclusive contents available in the News and Press section of PoloMarconi’s official website.
